How to choose a stamper

In nail stamping, the stamper is an essential tool. Often, the reason for unsuccessful stamping is not due to your gel or technique, but because of the wrong choice of stamper.

Stamps are divided into stamping stamper and telescopic stamper, both consisting of a silicone head and a handle.

Size:

  • Mini stamper: 1.5-2 cm in diameter, suitable for stamping smaller designs, often used in combination with other patterns.
  • Standard stamper: 2.5-3 cm in diameter, suitable for nature nail designs.
  • Large stamper: 3.5-4.5 cm in diameter, for full-cover or larger designs. Ideal for long nails. A large stamper is highly recommended.

Handle:
There are various shapes and materials for handles available in the market. For beginners, a completely transparent handle is recommended, as it allows for a clear view of the stamping process from all angles.

Silicone head:
There are generally two types of silicone heads: hard and soft. Each has its own characteristics and is suitable for different operational needs and users.

Hard  Silicone Head

  • Characteristics: Low tack, low elasticity, quick rebound, and low stretchability.
  • Advantages: Beginners can better control the stamping process, preventing excessive pressure that can distort the design. The picked-up design has higher and more even color saturation.
  • Disadvantages: The details of the picked-up design are not as refined, and the edges tend to blur.
  • Suitable for: Line, hollow, and large designs.

Soft Silicone Head

  • Characteristics: Stronger tack and higher elasticity.
  • Advantages: The picked-up design has more intricate details, and the design is more refined. It works well with various types of stamping gels and polishes.
  • Disadvantages: Due to its high elasticity, the design can stretch and distort during the transfer process, especially for straight lines. The strong tackiness can cause uneven pressure during transfer, leading to a design with inconsistent depth or uneven edges.
  • Suitable for: Complex, detailed, and intricate designs.

Based on personal preferences and the type of design being stamped, you can choose the most suitable stamper type.
